| Hey everyone! I'm new to all this steamy goodness, but have been bitten by the bug, and bitten bad! Already bought myself a top hat, and even sketched out a design for an outfit. Now I'm just looking for a little help, mostly in accessorizing. I'm trying to do an aristo/explorer type, and I'm not completely sure what accessories to be looking for. I'm also looking to make myself some goggles, but haven't really found a tutorial that really suits my fancy. I've posted a picture of myself from a photo shoot from this past weekend in Bridgewater, with my top hat, because I'm very happy with it. While the photographer was scouting out a good spot to take some pictures, I put my sunglasses on my hat, which he loved. We got a handful of pictures of me like that, and I feel very steamy in them, haha. ( Picture behind the cut, for your convience. )So, a bit about myself now that I've babbled on about other things: My name is Pixie, and I've been lurking here about a week. Finally got the courage to post, especially once I saw how this picture came out. I live in upper Mass during the summer/holidays, and down in Rhode Island during the school year. Still have one year left, at which point I'll be a licensed drama teacher. I work at King Richard's Faire (Sept/Oct), and love going to ren faires, usually as a pirate. I have my own costume design company, but it's pretty low key at the moment. I'm hoping to expand once I'm done with school. Alright, that's all I can think of for the moment!! xoxo Pix | |

| Currently available in Gold Rush Metallic, Antique Brass Metallic, and Metallic Silver~ Cost: $20 / pair Payment Options: PayPal only please ( Pictures under here )These come on hair clips or headbands, to be worn as costume head wings for any costume, club wear, or for your lolita coordinates. All of our wings are made from high quality sintra plastic, cut by hand and sanded down to a smooth finish, then heat formed to the desired shape. We use only the best paints - these are colors from Rustoleum's line of metallics. I love the little flecks of glitter in all these paints. The resulting finish is simply gorgeous. After several coats of paint we seal the wings with a coat of clear gloss for a super shiny finish. If you're interested in a custom pair of wings in any color or style, you may send me a note on BG or email me at Laura@OutlandArmour.com I'll be putting these up for sale on our Etsy after Otakon, but for now I'm offering them exclusively to readers of steamfashion, _cosplay_, and the Brass Goggles forums. ^_Q Thanks for looking! <3 x-posted to _cosplay_ | |

| Hi guys! (long time viewer, not-often poster) As mentioned a few weeks ago, Australian magazine "Fiend" has a Steampunk theme this issue, and I co-ordinated the Sydney fashion shoot. (More Victorian, with a hint of steam, admittedly) I haven't got scans of the mag pages, but here is a mock-up of my original proposed photos and storyline. In the end, the story part wasn't used (although 7 images were), but I hope you find it amusing! We certainly had fun shooting it :)
All pictures are property of Fiend Magazine and Katie Sheppard of Dollface Productions, www.dollface.net.au; not to be reproduced without credit. Models: Danica Lee, Debzillah, Matt Davis and Luke Markham. | |

| I was at Polaris (a local sci-fi/media convention) this weekend and didn't have the time or energy to get really kitted up so I pulled a bunch of stuff from my closet and put together a casual outfit. The skirt is one I wear regularly, the boots I got awhile back before I even got into steampunk but have become my default steamy boots because they're just awesome. The vest I had serendipitously fallen in love with at the mall, of all places, the day before. The hat I made for my Steampunk Lolita costume; it's a bit much for this outfit but I wore it because I haven't gotten around to making another steamy headpiece yet. Hair was a bit flat at the end of the day; I just swept it up into a quick n' dirty Gibson-girl type swirl and didn't have any rats. The blouse is a funny story - it's silk satin, really well made. I used to work for an employment agency where we'd help create business opportunities for immigrant women, and one previous project had been a costume shop. There were all these costumes left over that nobody wanted, so I acquired a bunch of them. That was over 10 years ago and most of the stuff (some of it involved...questionable colour choices) has since been given away through successive moves, but for some reason I managed to keep the 1890s blouse despite not knowing what on earth to do with it. And then Friday came around and I thought "Hm I need a blouse that's more Victorian-looking...wait..." LOL ( Full outfit ) | |

| I went in looking for jeans to cut off so I wouldn't melt running after daycampers, and came out with something so much better: ( Larger & Colour Versions )Pants, shirt, and hat in one fell secondhand swoop! Everything short of the goggles and the keys came from a thrift store, in fact. The belt and boots were just bought on an earlier occasion (and the dangly-thing on my right was ripped off one of my mother's equally-pre-owned purses). Also: Do old barns make terrific backdrops, or what? =D | |

It's a great dress to kick around in and it could be modified guilt free! ( Big so you can see the top lacey bit! )I also wanted to show you a sketch I'm working on: Thanks guys! Tina
